Policies

Thank you for choosing North Jefferson Academy of Dance. We are excited to start a new dance season and cannot wait to have your dancers with us. We will nurture their love for dance in a caring, conservative, Christian environment. All of our instructors are qualified beyond simply having taken dance, and they have a special love for young people and the art of dance. Our studios all have top-grade, sprung dance floors for the safety of your dancer.

NOTE: Several of our policies have changed for the 2020-2021 season. Please make time to thoroughly review the below information.

Registration Policies

RESERVATION FEE(S): Different for the 2020 – 2021 regular dance season, there is a $50 reservation PER STUDENT. This fee is non-refundable and holds your dancer’s spot in all classes for which you register them. Classes fill quickly. Previous students are guaranteed enrollment with reservation fee payment in a class for their age until July 30th.

NEW REGISTRATION PROCESS: Fall registration will be held completely online! You must pay your full reservation fee ($50 per dancer) at time of sign up or you could lose your spot in selected class(es). Detailing information can be found on the Registration page.

Tuition

Tuition is based on a nine month year (September – May). For your convenience, you may make nine, equal payments due your child’s first class of each month. We accept checks, cash, credit cards at the studio, or online through PayPal to payments@njadonline.com or paypal.me/northjeffersondance. (Note: You will make payment to and receive a confirmation from GoWiPro, LLC.)

Tuition is non-refundable. In the event we must close for pandemics and/or other reasons beyond our control, we will have make-up classes in some form to cover any time missed.

DISCOUNTS: A 10% discount is given on payment of a full year’s tuition made by September 30th. Discount does not include reservation fee(s). Discounts are given for second & third members of a family (first dancer full price, additional dancers half price).

ABSENCES: Missed classes may be made up, but no refunds will be given.

DISCONTINUATION OF CLASSES: If your child wishes to discontinue dance classes with us, you must submit a 2 week notice.

RETURNED CHECKS: There will be a $30 fee on all returned checks. After one returned check, you may no longer pay this way.

DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS: A late fee will be added to any account over 30 days delinquent. If any account is more than 60 days delinquent, your child will not be allowed to return to class until it is paid.

Recital Fees

Recital fees are changing this year!

Recital fees cover all costumes, recital at the Alabama Theatre, as many guests as you wish to invite to the recital, and recital programs. All monthly tuition has been upped by $10 this year and there will be an additional $20 per dancer/per class (this does not include tap or jazz) due in May to cover the remainder of recital fees. This will cover all recital fees.

Recital fees are non-refundable. In the event we must close for pandemics and other reasons beyond our control, we will have make-up classes in some form to cover any we missed. We will have a recital to the best of our abilities.

Dress Code & Class Etiquette

Dress codes will be strictly enforced, and dancers not adhering to dress code will not be allowed to take class. Secific dress code information can be found under each, specific section of our Schedule page. This information is also available in the registration packet. To download the registration packet, visit the Registration page.

  • No baggy t-shirts allowed in any class.
  • Hair must be up and out of face for all classes.
  • Knees must be covered for all classes.
  • Cell phones are not permitted for usage during class. If a parent permits their student to carry a cell phone, it must remain in their bag and turned on silent.
  • Bottled water only in dance studios.
  • No food allowed in dance studios.

New CDC + Health Guidelines & Related Registration Notes

Please be sure to read all the new information and guidelines, as this year will look a great deal different from previous years. In order for us to keep up with the CDC and health department guidelines, enrollment numbers will be very limited per class.

  • Parents will not be allowed to wait in the studio this year. You must drop your dancer off at the door. We know this is vastly different from the way we normally operate, but we are just trying to provide the safest, healthiest environment for our dancers, their families, and our teachers, along with following the government guidelines that have been placed on us.
  • Masks will be required for dancers six and older, entering and leaving the studio.
  • We will perform temperature checks at the door and give each dancer hand sanitizer as they enter.
  • We will practice social distancing during class.

PRE-POINTE/POINTE REGISTRATION NOTES: We are asking all pre-pointe (5th graders) through senior pointe dancers to sign up for the time slot you were previously in. Our classes are EXTREMELY limited this year, and we based numbers for pointe dancers on last year’s attendance. We want all dancers to be able to attend a class. If you attended in the afternoon, please select the afternoon option for your dancer’s grade, if at all possible. The same thing for the evening classes. This will help us out a great deal to avoid filling up classes and having to move around later due to our numbers meeting CDC guidelines.

DANCE TEAM & HIP-HOP REGISTRATION NOTES: Some of the age breakdowns for our Dance Team and Hip-Hop classes are different, as well, so we can get everyone a spot in a class and keep our numbers where they have to be. We ask that you fully read the registration schedule information regarding these classes to avoid being moved and missing a spot entirely.

OPEN HOUSE & SHOE FITTINGS: We will not be having an open house or shoe fitting this year. Locally, we recommend Applause Dancewear in Homewood, AL. They have everything you need and even offer a bundle discount starting in August.
